Mans Best Friend

Who, even if your not a dog lover isn’t drawn to old vintage
drawings of those sweet little furry creatures ? Someone’s beloved pet-
years and years have gone by, but they are not forgotten.
I have always loved terriers although I had the privilege of owning only one. Funny how pets steal your heart ! ( we have a “drop-off” who has stolen my heart now...)
I was looking through old vintage photos, drawings and loved the idea of having a place where I could put out my collection of glass & ceramic dogs. Maybe mix
in a few old drawings also... maybe an old camera too ?

My Ian- Pean-Pie ( named by the girls )

Aren’t they darling?
Tired from digging up the freshly planted garden....or tearing up the paper towel roll?

This one reminds me of Asta on the “Thin Man” series with William Powell & Myrna Loy.  Must See old movies... charming !!

The scruffier, the better....

Too cute for words...

Im thinking about the Country Living Outdoor
Fair in Austin this weekend... Im betting I could find some wonderful old drawings to add in my collection. Probably some other goodies along the way.... Are you planning on going?  Let us see some of your favorite finds and vendors. What collection do you need to add to ? We love vintage collections..
What are some of your favorites?  We would love to see your favorites.

Sincerely,

Slipcover, Cover or Bust !

I can scarcely imagine how we used to make it without today’s ingenious slipcovers.
They are keeping many a Mom from losing their minds, and everyone else- just plain happy  and BONUS, the furniture clean !!
I personally love the softness they add to any room not to mention covering all those unsightly legs and mismatched odds and ends we pick up from time to time...

Even the little ugly ducklings can be transformed into beautiful, graceful, lovely
swans when they have a simple slipcover. Many different fabric options are available,
but be sure to think about those remnants from an old quilt, worn out blanket, or family
tablecloth you are still hanging onto. Don’t worry if they have a few stains or tears. Just
work around them and be creative ! Think VINTAGE....

.
Do you have an old bench, chair or footstool that could use an update?

Send us some pictures of your projects , ask questions and we will give
you some new ideas to spruce up a tired old piece and make it your new favorite.

Beautiful, the slipcover balances all the "legs" of other furniture.

Don’t you just love the way slipcovers soften the entire room?

They can be elegant, fully gathered or a little more tailored- whichever suits your style.

You decide, look for a project and let us know.

Sincerely,

Life under Pressure

I want to be a coffee bean...

I knew that would get your attention. If that got you perk-u-lating ( percolating )

  then read on....

Beautiful, even before pressure is added

During this stressful time in our lives ( my husband has recently been diagnosed with
pancreatic and liver cancer ) we are sometimes hit with people or situations that
can be fairly trying. ( Or in some cases- make you want to scream )

With the need of returning to MD Anderson very soon for treatments, we spent an early weekend with family for the Easter Holiday. While traveling I spent some time reading
a little booklet that was both inspiring and thought provoking. It rolled around in my head while we were heading out. Below is the story in a nutshell-  see which choice you would make.

When Carrots, eggs or coffee beans are boiled, the effect on each of these will be
very, very different.

Don't think I want this...

Probably not these either...

The Carrots will soften, the eggs will harden, and the coffee
beans will change the color of the water and spread a delicious aroma......
The boiling water symbolizes problems, difficult situations, challenges in our life. Or, in the words of a very wise man ( my Dad ) they could be referred to as opportunities.
The carrots, eggs and coffee beans represent different human reactions to the same problems or pressures. The soft carrots represent people who often grumble, complain
and feel sorry for themselves when under pressure. Of course it makes sense that the
hardened eggs are those folks that become stubborn, angry or rebellious during those times....Been there. Done that !
But, the coffee beans when under the same pressures change the atmosphere around them by creating a very pleasant aroma for all of us to enjoy...

God offers us a very real and present hope when we are in the “boiling pan”
of life . Our faith can help to determine how we will respond-  I am hoping that I won’t
be too soft and fall apart, or “crack” under the pressure but instead give off an aroma that makes you want to relax stick around awhile. I can just smell it now.
Now, don’t you want to be a coffee bean ?

Have a wonderful week- Hope you had a blessed Easter with family and friends.
Till next time-
