Daily Joy

Well, here we are again. To Houston for scans, testing and
“ check-em-ups ” as the kids would say..
Trying to find the joy in our travels, we stop and look around occasionally to see what peaks our interest. Hey, if you have to be here, then we try to maintain our sense of humor and keep both eyeballs peeled. ( As my Dad says )

This is what we found today-

Lovely flowers blooming, literally in the garden next to where we valet the car every time we come up to the hospital...

Just thought this was one of
the most beautiful purple   flowering vines I had seen in awhile- Anyone know what it might be?
Just the most delicate looking
flowers. Lovely.

Asparagus Fern...I think, someone correct me if not.

Down the street , near Hotel ZaZa-awaits a wonderland of uplifting areas in which to chill out, stop and smell the flowers, or watch the beautiful fountains !  ( Free )

Cancer Survivors Plaza.. a lovely place not to be missed !

Each plaque has a different encouraging note from someone on it...
each intended to bring to you JOY...

Can you hear the JOY bubbling up from the
fountain..?

We enjoy the fact that HE gives us living water, so that we may LIVE with the cancer and look for the JOY in being here for a time...
We live, with a peace
that truly passes our earthly understanding. Amazing
Grace he gives when we ask.

Oh , and did I mention
JOY ?
Even though we are acutely aware of the fact that my
Darling has cancer, life is
sometimes VERY messy &
 not always so fun...
we ask God for a daily dose of his peace so that we may continue to have the joy that only HE can give, and No One can take away.
Being normal and human, I
sometimes let it slip away, and occasionally I find myself wallowing in pity.. but only for a moment.
Too much to do , sweet memories
yet to make...

A short, one hour away- Galveston awaits. It is raining today- a nice departure from the 107 degrees at home ( not a pun on our store, I promise ) and about 73 degrees here in the Houston area. We are finished with my Darlings testing.. and it’s only 1:20 p.m. , so we decide to head out Galveston way and see the sights. . . .

Till next time-  ( a continued post on Dallas Market soon )

To Market we went

This little piggy went to market, this little piggy went to... Ahem ! Excuse me . . . Sorry, I got slightly carried away by all the wonderful new things we saw.
I did make it to market in Dallas this week and my favorite assistant Aubrie tried her best to keep me in control, but you know how it is when a girl sees all the new goodies- well , like Christmas morning for a four year old. Anyway, since a small vacation called me away early, we had to miss the opening day of temporaries ( bummer ) but managed
to snap a few of the best views for you. And more on our little sneak away later...

Because we only had one day to scope out the goods for you- We hit a few highlights- some of the showrooms that we knew had the most creative and colorful displays.

One of the showrooms owned by J. Mackie, Ltd. never fails to disappoint , the owner is always ready to help you find what you are looking for. And his displays really draw you in.
Pottery so pretty you want to rearrange an entire room around it,  Seriously !

Beautiful potttery....several colors to be found.

One of the most popular and trending colors right now in the design industry- Purple ! Several shades here to enjoy. From a deep purple to purple infused with  a little cherry , it’s a hot color.  And note the citron accessories and chair that really make the purple a star here. Nice compliment.. It definitely has the shock value. ( 2nd photo )

If purple is not your color... try this on for a hot new shade.
With the new trend in neutrals moving away from beige and creams, and heading in the direction of grey, this lovely shade of tangerine is a natural to really make the room pop. Quite possibly
THE color of the year. ( Global Views)

Not your average display. Very appealing. Love the softness of the flowers added in to such strong architectural interest.  Yummy!   ( Global Views front window )

Enough for now. . we will do a second part with more photos later in the week. Let us know which colors are calling you this year.
Try and pick
your top two and let us know. We know it’s going to be difficult, but we know
you can do it.

Till next time-

Small Distractions

About one week ago we were once again blessed with the love of a little, but powerful bundle.
He arrived a full week early, but at almost 8 lbs. 8 oz., Mama was happy he decided to come join the party a little early  !
See what you think... he has kept us busy this past week, but it is a very welcome distraction. So, now it’s time to get back to work. New products to add . . . jobs to catch up on, but - it's more fun to kiss on babies..

Welcome our little one... Beckam Evan

My Darling was brave, and went to Houston for a treatment without
his right hand aide ( Me ) so, he has not had a chance yet to
see the little sweetie... I think I may be able to swing another visit
here soon : )  I missed my Darling !  Hmm. . .   Nana needs more smooches from both her littlest & biggest Fans
 of

Auntie Aubrie is fortunate to live close by so she is
ahead in the snuggling department... I need to catch up.

Aubrie & I are off to major market in Dallas this coming week-
we will snap up some new vintage style goodies ,
search for client’s wishes and snap a few pictures for you -

will post more next week...

Till next time-

I think we covered it all...

But, it's time to get back to work...

As always we were truly excited to be out and about at the Dallas show. Sadly, it's over and we wanted to give a little re-cap of some of the new designs and things we saw:

Beautiful new combination of charcoal and blues,
with crisp whites to accent. J.Mackie showrooms.
The always exciting GuildMaster showroom ...
below, just checking it out for comfort,
and taking 5 for my feet.

Love the pottery, and the cabinet behind...
J. Mackie showroom

We covered multiple floors, the “Temporaries” and the

new Vintage section, where we ran into some friends we met this past
Fall at our show at RoundTop Texas. We were so excited to see them. They had been invited to do the Vintage section of the show this year at the Dallas Market show.

Cindy has  a wonderful shop in Terrell, Texas.

Cindy from JRNE (Journey) Antiques

If you get out that way, be sure and pop in and see what you can find. Fun things for sure ! Her store is where I picked up the wonderful antique church pew I am working on for my kitchen.

Have a wonderful evening...

Off to Market we go...

As my kids would say, " Yeah, baby".... It is time for Mega Market in Dallas again! I am packing my bag, preparing all my goodies and grabbing my camera so you too can enjoy all the sights. Sure gonna miss " My Darling" ...

I probably don't need that many suitcases.

We will keep you updated...

It is a grueling schedule... long days, spent walking till you drop, but exciting and motivating all at the same time!  Hey, where are my comfortable shoes anyway ??
We will keep in touch and send photos of all the goodies we are considering for the shop and of course our design business. We always have a list of "wants" for our current clients and make careful notes of items that we might use on a future job. You can imagine how confusing 13 floors of merchandise might mesh together at the end of the day, so good note keeping is mandatory for us. It is a blur for certain !
On Friday we will rummage about in the "Temporaries" looking for those outstanding vendors that are new to the market, bringing their decor to sell only twice a year. This year they have added a new "Vintage" section and a wonderful lady I met at the Hico show has been invited to show her talent off there. I am making it a point to find her space. She is Nancy, of the ellaelaine.blogspot.com. Her things are unusual and displayed so creatively. You will love her things.
I'm thinking about Vintage style things for our shop, and of course something special for the farmhouse look I mentioned last time- I need to add to my new kitchen and warm it up with a little more color.
I am thinking about some pale blue-purple pottery that i saw last market. Usually when I'm still thinking about something, I know they need to come home with me.
And, if time allows, we will make it over to the Dallas Design Center and meet up with our favorite girls in the Fabricut and Robert Allen showrooms. They always have new fabrics displayed so beautifully, set off with the latest trimmings. You will want to decorate your entire house.

Off to Market we go...  will send a blog "postcard" so you can enjoy with us.
